Mallorca's fiery festival of tradition and devil dances

The Sant Antoni festival on Mallorca, celebrated on 17 January, is one of the most

important traditional festivals on the island. Especially in Sa Pobla and Artà, St Anthony, the patron saint of animals, is honoured with fiery rituals. The festivities begin the

evening before with foguerons (bonfires), where locals come together to grill meat, celebrate and sing traditional songs. The highlight is the Correfoc, a spectacular fire walk

in which devils dressed as ‘Dimonis’ dance through the streets and light up the darkness

with fireworks. This festival combines magic, tradition and community.
